I saw a program on TV of people fishing at this dam (Hartbeespoort Dam) early in the morning, and saw the scenery with fog on the dam, and thought it looked really beautiful. So I set my mind on going there early morning to take some photos of the dam and the fog.
My friend said she would accompany to the dam, and she too thought it was a good idea. (I think she did)!
We got there very early, before sunrise! And we (she) nearly died of the cold. It was really cold there!
We got out of the car, looked around and I took some photos of everything, even some people that were there before us, who came fishing for the day.

The most beautiful photos happened after the sunrise. Everything was beautifully lit, and set a scene of mystery, longing and fantasy.
The bonus were the yachts, I didn’t know there were yachts on the dam. So I had to take a few of them as well!
The irony of the day:
Everywhere around the dam is signs that says "No Fishing" yet everywhere you look, someone was fishing!
I think this was quite an adventure; can’t remember the last time I got out of bed before sunrise in the middle of winter to go and take photos, actually never before!!
Thank you Venita for tagging along, much appreciated!!… And Thank heavens you didn’t get frostbite!!
Stunning stuff Eugene. I love the mistiness and the early-morning light. Looks like we have two photoshoots coming up – you want to do bridges and now I want an early morning dam shoot
Thank you Lawrence!
We must go. Besides the COLD temperatures, I loved it. Especially when the sun decided to show face!!
Will take you there!!!
