My new house mate, I guess!!
I saw her when I came home tonight, from this close it’s actually a beautiful creature, although I HATE spiders, I’m getting use to ignoring them!!
What is amazing is the little hairs on her legs that looks like thorns or something…
Oh, if anyone knows what kind of spider it is, please let me know!!!
Rainspider (also called Lizard Spider), I reckon… They are free running and don’t construct a web. In defence, they raise their front legs. Their venom is usually harmless to man but can cause toxic reactions in some people. They eat insects such as crickets, and geckos.
Description: Large. Dark brown to greyish, with slightly darker marking on abdomen. Carapace covered with fine hairs. Long robust legs banded yellow and dark brown below. (Sasol Field Guide).
Love the photo!
Thank you, I thought another spider that I usually see is a Rainspider, that looks little bit different.
But thank you, guess she is harmless, as long as we stay out of each others way that is!!
There are 14 African species in this genus, so it is possible that you saw her cousin
Oh wow, 14?? No wonder I’m always confused. Thank you so much for the info.
